The studio
Chaudharāin creates collectible furniture and objects rooted in Indian making cultures.
Founded by artist and furniture designer Palak Chaudhary, the design practice also functions as her alter ego — adopting her family name as a daughter. Based in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Palak works across geographies, engaging deeply with craft clusters, material cultures and processes.
An industrial designer by education, her practice has always been material-led and process-oriented — shaped by time at studios including Material Immaterial, Mumbai; Shed, Surat; Sourabh Gupta, New York; and Room Therapy Collective, Hyderabad. Work from these studios has been exhibited at India Design ID and AD Discoveries, and published in Vogue and Dwell.
How each collection begins
Each immersion begins with one craft, one material system and a few doodles. The practice travels to the cluster, spends time, and learns the process from the inside. The outcome is a collection — and long-term relationships: repeat commissions that return to the same craft ecosystems over time.
