Immersion 02 — Bastar

The next immersion is rooted in Bastar, Chhattisgarh; close to Raipur and deeply connected to indigenous material cultures, ritual objects, and living craft traditions in dhokra, wrought iron, bamboo, terracotta and wood carving.

For Chaudharāin, Bastar is not a distant research site. It is part of the geography the practice comes from. Over the past year the studio has begun recces, conversations, and small object explorations in the region. The next phase is a deeper immersion into Bastar’s material systems, beginning with wrought iron and Dhokra.
